Pamper Days
Undergoing treatment for breast cancer can have a significant impact on the way a person looks and feels. At the BCFWA we believe that small things can make a big difference.
At our Pamper Days you will be spoilt with a range of pampering services including a gourmet lunch, hair styling, beauty treatments, head scarf design, make up artistry, a new outfit and a professional portrait photograph. We believe that pampering is about the whole person – body, mind and soul. Our Pamper Days offer an experience for the whole body to promote feelings of relaxation, rejuvenation and wellbeing.
Pamper Days are held approximately every six to eight weeks.
For more information or to register your interest in the next Pamper Day, please contact us.
Everything is donated to bring the Pamper Days together; the venue, the therapists, the products, the food and beverages, the gifts and the photography.

Thank you to the following people and organisations, who without their support, Pampers Days would not be a possibility.

Pamper Day Experiences and thank yous
Elizabeth, September 2009
Just a brief feedback of the wonderful pampering afternoon. The facial, make-up and hairstyling was fantastic and not forgetting the delicious food and drinks provided. The environment was very friendly. I have not been indulged in a pampering experience for a very long time, it made me feel very special. Many thanks and gratitude goes to everyone involved in making the Pamper Day so special.
Thanking you.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this week's pamper day. It felt really special to receive beauty treatments, an impressive makeover and to have shots taken by a professional photographer. Of course, it was also great to talk to other ladies on a similar journey, and to meet more staff from the Breast Cancer Foundation. I loved receiving clothing from my favourite shop - Morrisons.
I recognise that Summaglo shut its doors to paying customers on the day (except that one brave model!).

"To All Who Make The Pamper Days possible.THANK YOU! I have to send my most grateful thanks to all those wonderful people who know what makes women feel whole again.I can't think of a more important way of taking us further from where we have all been. The venue was so light, bright and very welcoming along with all who greeted us.To be part of this lovely day with the wonderfully cheerful women I met, those who had had treatment as well as those who volunteered their time to care for us, was something I have never experienced before and it was very heart-warming to know how much these occasions can put back into our lives what has been taken from us with breast cancer. To be able to eat beautifully prepared food that tasted so good after not being able to really enjoy food for a long time was also lovely.I found that the atmosphere (energizing) was so far from what most of us probably have experienced for a long time also. At times all we really have to talk about is what we have gone through every time we catch up with others we may not have seen for awhile.I felt so removed from the subject, no negative feelings seemed possible when we were constantly being pampered, waited on and surprised with lovely gifts and watching how we were all being transformed into glamorous women with the constant laughter, which I haven't heard so much of for awhile, was so uplifting. I will be encouraging anyone I know who goes through breast cancer, to reward themselves after their treatment, to a most important part of their recovery -Pamper Day. Again, thank you all".

"I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed the afternoon at the pamper day. It was great to meet all the other women there, and all the make-up artists, beauticians, hairdressers etc were really lovely. I had great fun getting my make-up done, complete with false eyelashes. I've missed my eyelashes so much - I really enjoyed having them back, even if only temporarily. I especially loved the clothes. Morrison is one of my favourite shops, so I will be getting lots of wear out of that present! Oh, and the food was delicious. And the entertainment (Johannes on piano accordion and Natasha singing) was fantastic. I can't wait to see the photos. Thanks so much for inviting me. I had my last radiation this morning, and it was a perfect celebration to come to the pamper day and just relax and enjoy being finished treatment".

"Dear wonderful people at the Breast Cancer Foundation (especially Nerida). I was fortunate enough to attend the Pamper Day in February this year. It was sooooooooo fantastic that I was still thinking about how good it made me feel a whole month later. The only downside is that I realised how long it had been and that I had not yet sent an email or snailmail to say THANKYOU. Then I felt guilty. Then coincidentally, a couple of days later, a huge photo of my glamorous baldness arrived in the mail. Then I felt good yet again, but twice as guilty. So thankyou, THANKYOU, thankyou. And the photo is a really beautiful memento of this time of life and will remind me of how many people were lovely to us and said 'you look beautiful' when I probably looked anything but!!
Thankyou especially to Nerida for putting together such a well matched group of women. And to think all of the helpers there at Sumaglo were volunteers. What good hearts. I still have a little giggle inside when I think of the lovely lady who thanked US for coming along! It's good to be alive. Thanks again".

"A big thankyou to the BCFWA, volunteers and to the staff at Summalgo for a really lovely afternoon. What a treat! - so generous, so lovely and so very much appreciated. Thankyou also to Morrison for the outfit (it fits me like a glove!). Also a big thankyou to Lynnette Ferguson for the very much loved patchwork quilt. It was overwhelming receiving it, especially knowing the love and care that must have been put in to creating it and putting it together. It’s amazing to see such generous and kind community support, and it’s really nice to have such caring hands and hearts to help restore our dignity and confidence".

"Could you pass on my thanks to the BCFWA for organising the Pamper Day. I felt so privileged to be a part of the day and I was overwhelmed with the generosity of your sponsors! Everything was just gorgeous! I left feeling rejuvenated and felt that all that treatment for cancer was in the past; I am renewed and ready to face the future!"
