Breast Cancer Care WA has a range of programs to support you.

Breast care nurses are patient advocates. They are our clients’ main contact and source of information throughout their treatment, empowering them in their relationships with their healthcare team. Breast care nurses also provide emotional support for the client and their family, as well as evidence-based information and resources to help them live well with, and after, cancer.

Our team of specialist counsellors provide mental health support to our clients and their families, helping them to cope with changes, challenges and uncertainty during their treatment and beyond. One-on-one counselling is available in person, over the phone, at home visits or online via video conferencing.

Breast cancer treatment can reduce a client’s capacity to work and perform everyday tasks that many of us take for granted.
By providing short-term f inancial relief and practical support services (such as household cleaning, child care or transport to and from appointments), we aim to reduce distress for those experiencing hardship.

Our support groups are facilitated by specialist counsellors. These groups provide a safe space for our clients to share helpful information and coping strategies with their peers. These include groups for young people, people with early breast cancer, people with metastatic breast cancer and partners of people with breast cancer.

Our Living Well program is a community-based survivorship initiative offering a range of wellness activities, workshops and educational webinars. Tailored support is available for people living with metastatic breast cancer and those who have finished active treatment for early breast cancer.

From hearing the news about your loved one to managing the rollercoaster of emotions that may ensue, we can help guide you through challenging conversations with your partner and family. Our services cater to the unique needs and challenges faced by each individual and are available for the whole family – partners, husbands, wives and carers.

Just because you live in rural WA doesn’t mean you can’t access Breast Cancer Care WA’s services. Our specialist breast cancer nurses and counsellors are available either by phone or online. We also have online-only support groups, workshops and webinars available.
