Breast care nursing

Support from our specialist nurses

Our team offer invaluable information and support from initial diagnosis, right through treatment, and beyond. They are a team of specialised nurses who bring diverse nursing experience including care of the person with a breast cancer diagnosis, system navigation and supportive care. Nurses provide wraparound emotional support, liaise with cancer care professionals, advocate and facilitate collaborative support, refer to internal and external agencies, and create survivorship care plans.

How a specialist breast care nurse can help you

Our specialist breast care nurses tailor their services to the needs of individuals. We have dedicated early breast care nurses, and dedicated metastatic breast care nurses.
They can help you by:

  • comprehensive needs assessment
  • understanding your diagnosis and treatment pathways
  • providing tailored information and resources when you need them
  • symptom and side effect management
  • health system navigation
  • communication with your treating team
  • support to live well from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond

Our specialist breast care nurses provide comprehensive support via telehealth including phone, email or videoconferencing. In person support is provided at our Cottesloe office. Home and hospital visits in the metropolitan area are possible according to need.

Our specialist breast care nurses are there for every step of the journey. They help you understand your diagnosis and treatment plans, navigate health services, communicate and liaise with multidisciplinary care teams, and support you to make informed decisions about your health and wellbeing. We are also fortunate to have a specialist metastatic breast care nurse, who is dedicated to caring for clients with metastatic cancer.

Our nurses can make home and hospital visits within the metropolitan area and can also provide support to regional clients via phone, email or video chat.

Our Nurses

Breast care nurses are patient advocates. They are our clients’ main contact and source of information throughout their treatment, empowering them in their relationships with their healthcare team.

It was this decision, that upon reflection, I wish I had made earlier but I have since learned that you can’t change the past, you just have to try your best and move forwards.

The actual experience of jumping out of a plane was just amazing. I’m so glad I did it.

I’m a busy mum and I don’t often have time to prioritise myself first, it is always everyone else in the house and then if I have time I will do something for myself. But I thought yes, sure, I will do this for myself.
